Make Them Count

Make your vacations count for His Kingdom and for eternity!


Since the start of college, with the Lord’s leading, He has made our vacations count for Kingdom purposes . This made a real difference in getting away from the cultural demands of “what’s in it for me?!” Plus, it helped us to see others through God’s “agape” love . It has given new meaning, purpose and adventure to our lives. Instead of just desiring a life of comfort, we’ve lived and traveled to some of the more unlikely places . Two years in India, about a year in the Middle East, and almost 7 years in central Africa. Altogether visiting over 50 countries. But it’s been well worth it with all the people whose lives have been a blessing to us and who we’ve blessed. Here are some possibilities that you or possibly together with friends or your whole family that you can take part in.


So what can you do during your vacation ?  ?  ?  Check out these great examples for ideas:

    1.  At a popular U.S. tourist area, enjoy the sites and sounds, but plan also some key time with a              ministry for outreach in the area.

 

  • Colorado Springs : learn about and take part in dozens of international ministries .
  • Hawaii : take a short-term class or assist in a key project at YWAM ’s University of the Nations.
  • Los Angeles or another metro area : where there are good ministries and significant needs. 

 

    2.  Visit  Music Meadows Ranch run by Christians and take part in a real Cowboy church nearby.

    3.  Take part in  Christ-Centered wilderness and rafting adventures : www.journeyquest.org
    4.  Visit or work at a Christian Conference, Camp ministry, etc.
    5.  Help a struggling community in disaster relief / recovery ministry after a major storm, fire, or             national tragedy.  U.S. / International Relief  or  International Disaster Response
    6.  Help in a ministry opportunity at a Native American reservation
    7.  Help an international ministry: Contact a missionary or short-term ministry to see how you or              your church team can visit and get involved in ministry needs.
    8.  Take part in a Ship ministry impacting the world : www.om.org/ships or www.mercyships.org .

    9.  Travel Like a Pilgrim -  Make any trip spiritually significant. God can do it!  Click here for ideas.

   10. Trace your Faith Heritage: Visit Israel, etc. and connect with a ministry there.

   11. As a student take part in a weekend, weeklong or longer trip https://studyabroad.intervarsity.org

   12. Cruise with Purpose! While cruising, find a ministry or church in one of the ports that you can               connect with or take a ministry related cruise. Learn to pray for that ministry and be a blessing.
