We have access to these fares for a variety of itineraries with over 35 international airlines.

What you need to know about Humanitarian Airfare:

1. Lower prices

Major airlines create a “bucket’ or reserved group of seats specifically for Humanitarian travelers. These ticket prices are often significantly lower than the average published rate, which allows nonprofits and individuals to save money on their travel. These deals can benefit you, your family or your team’s travel needs.

2. Consistent prices

Unlike regular published rates that increase as the flights fill up, Humanitarian rates do not increase with last minute booking. This means you and your team can utilize discounted rates for spontaneous volunteer trips, such as emergency responses for natural disasters.

3. Increased free baggage

Paying extra for bags has become a painful subject for many – especially Humanitarians. Volunteers often travel with supplies intended to stay at their destination, as well as traveling with personal belongings. When you travel on a Humanitarian rate, some carriers offer to check additional bags for free, resulting in significant savings.

4. Reduced or waived fees

Some airlines add extra perks for Humanitarian travelers such as reduced or waived fees for changing or cancelling your flights, as well as free assigned seats. These can be significant savings, especially for groups or international adoptions.

5. Increased Return flight flexibility

Airlines may allow a Return Date Change For Free on a round-trip. It is often a huge benefit for international adoptions and other ministry or non-profit related travel. Most travelers pay a premium for one-way tickets. Humanitarian airfare provides up to 60% off round-trip fare on one-way flights, giving increased flight flexibility.

6. No minimum or maximum stay

No matter the length of your volunteer / ministry trip, you can take advantage of Humanitarian Airfare. The discounted rates remain the same whether you travel for 3 days or a year. These rates may be the best deals to meet your needs.

7. Continue to earn Miles / Points / Status Miles

The airlines will continue to have you earn miles, points or status miles sometimes even more than with published fares.

8. More Fundraising time allowed for Groups

In many cases you can reserve your flight up to 330 days out, pay a minimal deposit later, and not pay the full amount until 45 days before departure, plus have the possibility of changing team members with no penalty.

Documentation that is Needed for Humanitarian Airfare:

  • Passengers must be able to provide at any time of their journey, non-profit identification or original certificate from a mission, church or non-profit organization on original letterhead of the organization. Airlines at any point may ask you to present proof of your affiliation to the humanitarian or religious non-profit at the airport with this essential documentation.  It is extremely important for you to have this when you arrive at the airport. If you do not, the airline can refuse you passage with no refund.
